Consider Filters

Everything we see and hear enters our mind through a series of filters. This is true for everyone around us as well. Because of this, a group of people can listen to or read the same words yet each draw a different meaning from them. While this allows poetry and music to be wonderfully personal and open to interpretation, it doesn’t make communication any easier. Consider the fact that mental filters are shaping the way you interpret what you hear and they way others interpret what they hear from you. Take the time to clarify understanding, rather than assuming it.
