Platinum Rules!

Many of us were raised with some version of the golden rule: “do onto others as you would have them do onto you.” This is great for connecting with people who are like us, because they interact the same way we do. But what happens when someone has different preferences for connecting? In most cases, we continue treating the person “well” and become confused as the relationship deteriorates. In a diverse world, the platinum rule makes more sense “do onto others as they would have you do onto them”: a subtle but significant difference. If connecting with someone is important to you, find out how that person likes to be treated and trade your gold in for platinum!
