The "Unsend" Button
When email first became a business communication tool, we had an internal email system that allowed us to “unsend” an email even after we had clicked the send button. It wasn’t until that option was no longer available that we understood the value of it. Unfortunately, words once spoken - and email once transmitted – cannot be “unsent”. Although we can’t rely on a button to take back potentially damaging words, perhaps we can cultivate an internal transmission delay that allows us to consider the impact of our words before we transmit.
